Ship
Repair
Slipway
The Slipway, which has recently been upgraded, has four
cradles and is located in Port Henry Harbour. Ships up to 27.43
metres keel length, with a maximum beam of 7.2 metres and weight
of 230 tonnes can be accepted into the Slipway.
Ship repair facilities have been the subject of continued investment
by the Harbour Trustees.
A new platform scheme was provided to facilitate safer access
to vessels on the Slipway.
The Slipway provides a very cost effective alternative to the
Syncrolift facility and is widely used. All enquiries should
be made to the Harbour Office.
Drydock
The Drydock is located in the North Harbour and can currently
handle ships up to 57.9
metres in length, 10.67 metres beam and 5 metres draught and
is available to all
types of vessels within the dimensions.
The Slipway and drydock facilities are complemented by a skilled
workforce from the harbour itself and locally based companies,
which cover the whole spectrum of repair, maintenance and conversion
of vessels.
Carpenters, marine electricians, engineers, painters, radar
and radio specialists, diving contractors, salvage companies
and other specialists are available.
In earlier years, Peterhead Harbours adopted a forward thinking
approach to environmental policies which has resulted in Scottish
Environmental Protection Agency granting authority for the de-commissioning
of vessels within the drydock.
All enquiries require to be directed to the Harbour Office.
