The South Base facilitates the prompt and efficient turnaround of vessels servicing the logistical requirements of the offshore oil and gas industry.

Modern vessel handling methods allow loading, offloading and bunkering to be carried out simultaneously, resulting in shorter turnaround times. It is used extensively by platform support and anchor handling vessels oil tankers and bulk carriers.

The base, with 12 berths across the South Base Quay, South Breakwater and Princess Royal Jetty, is the centrepiece of ASCO’s Peterhead operations. Within the base there is office accommodation, warehousing and approximately 4.5 hectares of open storage. Berth 8 incorporates a 500-tonne heavy lift pad and is suitable for Ro-Ro use. All major chemical contractors are represented, for the supply of mud and cement commodities.

A full range of material handling equipment, including mobile cranes from 36 to 500 tonnes capacity, forklifts and a transportation fleet, is available to meet the complete servicing needs of vessels using the berths.
